Before coming to Children’s Institute, Yonny Castillo-Flores was an Athletics Program Assistant at his alma matter, Willamette University. During his time at Willamette, Yonny helped manage daily administrative duties for the university’s athletic department.

Prior to Willamette, Yonny served as a legislative aide for State Representative Teresa Alonso Leon of Oregon House District 22. He managed the representative’s communication platforms and handled all the representative’s administrative duties and scheduling.

He has also served as a program manager at Metropolitan Group, a local communications firm located in Portland, OR.

Throughout the course of his professional career, Yonny has been heavily involved with the National Migrant and Seasonal Head Start Association. He was a student in one of the association’s centers as a young child, and has since participated in an internship program in Washington D.C. while in college, attended various national conferences, and currently serves on the board for fellow alumni of the association. This full-circle experience created a passion for early childhood education within Yonny, and he’s excited to use his experiences to support Children’s Institute’s work.

Yonny graduated from Willamette University with a B.A. in Latin American Studies and a B.A. in Spanish and hopes to pursue a master’s degree in the coming years.
