Lois Leveen
Director of Communications
Lois Leveen is Director of Communications at the Children’s Institute.
She brings deep professional experience in strategic communications, including work in education philanthropy, postsecondary education, education and health nonprofits, and with K-12 schools, districts, and educational service districts. A published novelist and poet, she loves combining creativity and strong analytic thinking to advance and amplify the work of Children’s Institute and our partners. With a PhD in African American literature, she is deeply committed to centering equity in all she does.
Outside of work, Lois can be found riding her bicycle, playing ‘ukulele, singing in street choirs, cooking up something from her organic farm share, and building community in Portland.
