Cory Carman
Owner, Carman Ranch
Cory Carman is a fourth-generation rancher and the owner of Carman Ranch, located in Oregon’s Wallowa Mountains. After earning a degree in Environmental Policy from Stanford and working in Washington, D.C., she returned to her family ranch in 2003 to lead a transformation toward regenerative agriculture. Under her leadership, Carman Ranch became a pioneer in 100% grass-fed beef, emphasizing soil health, carbon sequestration, and sustainable land management.
She is a recognized leader in sustainable agriculture, having helped form the Carman Ranch Producer group, a network of producers across the Pacific Northwest committed to regenerative practices. She was featured in a Modern Farmer profile as a driving force behind the regenerative cattle movement and previously served on the Oregon Farm Service Agency State Committee, the Ecotrust Board of Advisors and currently serves on the Oregon Board of Trustees for the Nature Conservancy.
Cory is a strong advocate for rural children and their families, championing policies and community efforts that strengthen rural education, improve access to healthy food, and create opportunities for young people to thrive in agricultural communities.
Her work has been highlighted by Modern Farmer, USDA, and Portland Monthly, and her ranch has received recognition for its habitat improvement projects and ecosystem restoration efforts.
Her beef is known for its exceptional flavor and nutritional value, and her ranching philosophy has inspired a new generation of producers to rethink what sustainable meat production can look like.
