Alicia Chapman
Founder, Owner and CEO, Willamette Technical Fabricators
Alicia Chapman is the founder, owner, and CEO of Willamette Technical Fabricators, a structural metal manufacturing company focused on custom, complex transportation and clean energy infrastructure projects. Before founding the business in 2020, she led the Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center’s research and development for Boeing, Daimler, and other industry partners. Previously, she worked at the Institute for Sustainable Solutions as a National Science Foundation-funded Research Fellow specializing in the valuation of ecosystem services.
Before that, she led economic development programs for the US Agency for International Development in Palestine, Afghanistan, Lesotho, and Libya. She studied at the American and George Washington Universities in Washington, DC, before moving to Portland in 2012 to pursue a PhD in public policy at Portland State. In 2022 she completed the Stanford Graduate School of Business Latino Entrepreneurship Initiative Education Scaling Program. Alicia serves on several boards, including the Board of Directors for the Federal Reserve Bank of San Franciscoâs Portland Branch. In 2023, she was appointed by Governor Kotek to serve on the Oregon Commission for Women and the Oregon Transportation Commission, and by the City Council to serve on the Portland Clean Energy Fund committee.
Her company has received many awards, including âManufacturer of the Yearâ and one of Portlandâs 10 fastest growing privately held companies, and she has personally been named an EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Award winner, a âWoman of Influence,â and âForty Under 40â by the Portland Business Journal. Both her mother and father, who immigrated to the US from the Dominican Republic, served in the US Navy, and Alicia is the first person in her family to go to college or own a business. She lives in beautiful Portland, OR, with her husband, two children, and faithful shiba inu.
